Belinda, Hygienist in Alternative Practice
Belinda has spent the last five years as a Dental Hygiene clinician at UCLA where she continues to work at the Faculty Group Dental Practice. In 2008, Belinda became a Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice and has been licensed by the State of California to treat people with special needs. As a RDHAP we are able to meet the needs of people in alternative settings rather than the traditional dental office. We treat a variety of people who do not have access to dental care because their illness restricts their ability to visit a dental office.
As an RDHAP, Belinda works with caregivers, residential faculty and nurses in providing oral health instructions, ways to prevent gum disease and referrals to a dentist, if needed.
